What started as a passion project in the Netherlands…got kind of out of hand.

In the pursuit of the ‘ultimate’ tone — and being an electrical engineer — I came to the conclusion that much of my vision would be achieved in the pickup itself, by fundamentally changing the first step: the capture of the vibration. Alongside the pickup comes a filter-based preamp equipped with a mix-cutting yet ear-soothing resonant peak, never fatiguing, yet always cutting through the mix.

Having it installed and playing with it live I got a considerabel amount of compliments and remarks of the uniqueness of the sound I decided to (after several redesigns) make quite a few more of them and put it up for sale

Another requirement I set is that the installation should be as easy as possible and require no previously owned tools — just the small screwdriver that comes with it.

About the company

This pursuit quickly expanded into a dedicated engineering setup in my living space, where I began building the tools necessary to reliably and precisely manufacture the pickup according to my vision. During this process, I soon realized that producing multiple units would require roughly the same effort as making just one — and that realization planted the seeds in my mind to turn this into a company.

About Pulsar Pickup

About Filter Preamp

Get the beloved filter type preamp with resonant peaks that allows you to tone shape that only such preamp would allow.

Functionality

The module has three knobs with two of them having a push pull switch, they do the following:

• Knob 1: Volume

• Knob 2: LPF frequency set point

• Knob 2 switch: engaging resonance peak of 12dB

• Knob 3: HPF volume, adds high frequency back to the signal

• knob 3 switch: engaging resonance peak of 6dB @5kHz, setting the focus point of the HPF lower treble range.

Ease of installation

Installation requiring no previous owned tooling! just screw terminals with an supplied fitting screw driver having the following terminals:

• Battery +

• Battery -

• signal (to pickup)

• + (pickup source voltage)

• - (pickup GND)

• Extra GND (for grounding of the instrument)
